Arita-yaki by Saga is available on a special online store for a limited time.

More than 10,000 Arita ware items will be available on our special online store. Saga Prefecture has organized a “Web Arita Pottery Market (Web有田焼市)”, which will run from 9 a.m. on April 29, 2020 to 5 p.m. on May 5, 2020.

Why selling online?

Arita Pottery Market(有田陶器市) is hold in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, and is a popular event that attracts about one million Arita-yaki fans from all over Japan, especially those from Kyushu. The Youtube videos above are from the 2017 and 2018 events.

However, the event has been postponed this year due to the impact of Covid-19. Therefore, as the first initiative of Saga Prefecture, about 130 companies gathered together to create an online store with over 10,000 Arita-yaki items.

Until now, you had to go directly to Arita Town in Saga Prefecture to purchase items. This year, you can buy online for new products and deals at the Arita Pottery Market.

If you buy more than 2,000 yen in total at one store, shipping to all japan prefectures will be free! Arita town is willing to cover the shipping costs.

How to buy it?

There are three entrances to the site: “Select from recommended products, map and list of stores”. Clicking on a product you are interested in will take you to each store’s site.

If the store you are buying from is different, they will be shipping each other.

If you purchase from two or more stores, each store will offer free shipping if you spend more than 2,000 yen, but if you spend less than 2,000 yen, you will be charged a separate shipping fee.

Payment methods and fees (cash on delivery and bank transfer fees) may vary from store to store.

The online store purchase process seems to be a bit complicated. This special site will be closed at 17:00 on May 5. If you find a lovely product, you may want to write down the name of the store, the product, and contact information, and email them later.

Arita-yaki fans can enjoy the event at home as the “Online Aritayaki Pottery Market” this year also. If you find a likely item you’re interested in before it sells out, keep it!
